Founded in 1941

FALCON FIELD was founded in September 1941 as an
RAF (Royal Air Force) fighter training base during World War II. Falcon
Field was named after the fierce British Peregrine Falcons living in the
area. The wide open spaces of the desert made it an excellent choice for
training troops and aviators.
Today

Falcon field is one of the most popular General
Aviation airports in the Phoenix Metropolitan area, featuring friendly
FBO's and highly professional flight training schools. It is the 4th
busiest general aviation airport in the nation with several hundred
take-offs and landings daily. Situated in sunny Arizona on the northeast
of the valley, it offers tremendous flying weather and awe-inspiring
views. Mesa itself is a friendly city with over 450,000 in population.
It is situated adjacent to Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Gilbert and
Chandler.
