History of Falcon Field
Founded in 1941 as an RAF
(Royal Air Force) fighter training base during World War II, Falcon Field
was named for the fierce British Peregrine Falcons living in the area.
Today, Falcon Field is one
of the most popular General Aviation airports in the Phoenix Metropolitan
area, featuring friendly FBO’s and highly professional flight training
schools. It is the 15th busiest general aviation airport in the
nation with several hundred take-offs and landings daily. Situated in sunny
Arizona on the northeast of the valley, it offers tremendous flying weather
and awe-inspiring views. Mesa, itself, is a friendly city with over 450,000
in population in the growing metropolitan area of Maricopa County adjacent
to Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Gilber and Chandler. |
